WeView Held First “Zero-Carbon Day” at Giga+ Battery Factory
26-10-2023
On October 26, WeView hosted “Zero-Carbon Day” at the Giga+ Battery Factory in Guangdong. The event focused on exploring how flow battery technology can effectively reduce energy storage costs and boost the renewable energy industry.
During the event, industry leaders and experts clarified the confusion surrounding the terms “levelized cost of storage (LCOS)” and “installation cost.” They emphasized the importance of accurately measuring LCOS, particularly in the development of long-duration energy storage batteries. The experts unanimously agreed that when calculating LCOS, it is imperative to consider the battery’s entire lifespan, including factors such as capacity and life cycles. Additionally, they highlighted that other vital elements, such as power loss, installation expenses, and operational costs, play a pivotal role in determining the overall LCOS. Consequently, product providers were urged to prioritize technological advancements and efficient management practices to facilitate cost reduction.
Ge Qun, WeView’s Chairman, introduced a concept akin to “Moore’s Law,” tailored for the energy storage industry. The ambitious goal is to collectively reduce the LCOS to $40/MWh within three years. Achieving this milestone is crucial for enhancing the economic feasibility of new energy sources and invigorating the renewable clean energy market.
WeView also launched its new zinc-iron flow battery product, GP110. This revolutionary battery features inherent safety, non-toxicity, cost-effectiveness, and an impressive lifespan of over 20 years, enabling extensive application across various scenarios.
